Prelims 2018 guidance

An introduction:

It's october! So it's 8 months more to ink the OMR's for 2018 CSE aspirants. It's the right time to start preparing for prelims 2018.

First as you know there are 2 papers. 
Each weigh 200 marks
paper1 (GS) = 100*2 and the paper2 (CSAT) = 80*2.5.

My kind advise is to practice CSAT PAPERS as much as possible. Because, it's actually an qualifying paper for correcting paper1 (33% to qualify) .

Coming to paper 1,

You gotta note some important things to KNOW from newspapers ,

• Govt. Schemes,
• SciTech. - the next generation techs,
• Environment- Pollutants,NGT's reference,other environmental org.
• International relations - All news_ esp. Neighbouring countries.
• Ecology- all news.
• INT. Trade & Economic org. - reports & activities.

Next of the things to STUDY includes

HISTORY :

ANCIENT - Art & Architecture , lifestyle/culture.

MEDIEVAL - Important TERMS/WORDS used by those days.

MODERN - All important events after1857 till 1947. 

GEOGRAPHY:

MAPS - All locations mainly western countries are important. Mountains in and around india and landforms are important.

PHYSICAL/POLITICAL - From NCERT's is best .

ENVIRONMENT/ECOLOGY :
Basics from shankar's book , can also refer your own academy's notes/NCERT's(science/bio.).

POLITY:
Complete entire lakshmikant's polity. should be mugged up with units 1 to 7 also powers,term of office,... of all major posts in the book.

Being a CSE aspirant , My perception of reading newspaper got too much highly levelled. Although I attempted CSE twice by completely omitting the newspapers I got paid for that. Later when I realised I should read newspaper I was experienced with a lot of questions the way UPSC shoots at its dreamers. Now young aspirants who meet me, they wanted to know the method of reading NEWSPAPERS.

Learning the habit by self is very good, but for a serious aspirants like me who will only realise later, it’s a waste of 1 attempt , 1 year , 1 lakh rupees (coaching fees), waste of current affairs materials(as in 2017 those materials became completely waste).

Now I ask the youngaspirants to solve the 2016 CSE prelims question paper . If you are decentenough to score and gain that year’s prelims cut off I’m damn sure you canstart reading newspapers on your own . The others please have a personal friendto discuss the day’s newspaper events (can be done in tea breaks).

" anthropology is the science of man " - kober(1948)

The anthropology for civil service exam optional deals with the most elegant study of the subject. although going depth into the subject is not a better prespective to study, we should study good enough in physical anthropology concepts like evolution of homosapiens,theories of lamark,darwin,..etc and social anthropology concepts like caste,tribes/tribal settelments , .. etc.

if beginner : you should know about the paper first than the subject.

there are 2 papers for the subject . Each paper is worth of 250 marks.

the paper 1 consist of  8 questions in 2 sections (section A & B)  > you should attend 5 questions of which 2 are compulsory and 3 is of your own choice from rest 6 (atleast 1 qn from each section).

This paper(1) deals with physical / biological anthropology and also questions used to pop up from archeological anthropology as well.

the paper 2 also consist of  8 questions in 2 sections (section A & B)  > you should attend 5 questions of which 2 are compulsory and 3 is of your own choice from rest 6 (atleast 1 qn from each section).

This paper(2) deals with socio-cultural anthropology and also questions used to pop up from linguistic anthropology as well.

Now, let's see what is anthropology!

anthropology is simply known as the study of evolution of man and his work.

yet "anthropos" in greek known as man and "logos" is known as science. , so anthropology can be termed as science of man and his work.

"Anthropology deals with man as a social being" - Boas (1930)
